Individual and state in the cyberspace
Invitation

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Faculty of Political Sciences and Administration of Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz cordially invites you to participate in the International Scientific Conference entitled The Individual and the State in Cyberspace, which will take place on May 20-21, 2024.

The development of information and communication technologies has introduced many changes in the lives of individuals as well as societies, and in the functioning of states and international organizations. Cyberspace has become a parallel space for their activities, not only with numerous activities being transferred to the virtual sphere, but with new entirely ones being initiated there as well.

Among the many benefits we observe in connection with the use of electronic communication tools in the public sphere, it is worth paying attention to changes in the process of governing and managing the state, such as electronic administration or e-governance, but also to new forms of civic participation, both formal and informal. The use of ICT tools has already exceeded the communication potential, becoming an important element of private and public life. Along with these changes, new threats have also emerged, related to online information and transaction security, digital systems, privacy, and activities in online communities.

Cybersecurity is now becoming a serious challenge for both organizations and the state, and activities aimed at raising awareness of Internet users aimed at contributing to their digital resilience.

Taking into account the various aspects of the functioning of individuals and states in cyberspace, the conference organizers would like to bring together specialists – scientists and experts, representatives of various fields and scientific disciplines – interested in cyberspace and its aspects from a political, legal, sociological, pedagogical, psychological, economic, technological and military perspective, as well as practitioners representing local, national, and international institutions and organizations, so that their encounters during the conference not only contribute to the exchange of knowledge, but also provide opportunities to initiate and develop cooperation in this area.

On behalf of the Faculty community,

Assoc. Prof. Artur Laska, Ph.D.
Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Administration, UKW

Assoc. Prof. Izabela Kapsa, Ph.D.
