The PI and Mentor both attended the biennial Sterne conference in Venice. This is the most important academic gathering for Sterne studies, reuniting many well-established and newer scholars working in the field, and across eighteenth-century studies more widely (and other disciplines besides).

Both gave papers related to the project’s research findings so far. The PI talked about the resurgence of the ideas of play and games found in Sterne’s text as manifested in magazines and newspapers, mostly British, within the wider context of the diversity of eighteenth-century card-play. The Mentor talked about Sterneana in Polish magazines.
